Hey man, I know this isn't what your post is about, but I just read about that 3000-year old woman they found in Rome, what is she called? Queen of the Latins? (Regina Latium?)

That's Amazing! Sometimes I really am jealous of Italians, you've got so much history under your feet just waiting to be found.

I don't know what this woman is called. But queen of the Latins seems probable :-)

In my town there were people older than Roman. Falisci and Etruschi....

Yeah, they say in the article I'm reading that she predates the city, and is probably Etruscan. Funny thing is, they found her with an amber medallion, which indicates that she likely had some contact with Balkan tribes or traders.

We're all connected.

Federico! Thanks ever so much for dropping in on my blog. I thought I'd return the favor and visit yours. Alas, I can neither speak nor read Italian so I can't read your blog. I wonder if blogger has some sort of translation option. I know that google does.

Years ago, I lived in a little Italian neighborhood in Pittsburgh and worked in a video store with 2 sisters, Maria and Rose (whose full name was Rosaria Magdalene Scalise--which I still love to say out loud--it's such a substantial name) who had come to this country from Calabria when they were small children, so they spoke perfect English but also spoke Italian to each other and at home with their parents. Coming here to your blog caused me to remember those 2 lovely girls and miss them and their lovely language.

Thank you, sir, for reminding me of the Scalise sisters, whom I hadn't thought of in quite a long time. And thanks for reminding me of one of my very favorite times and places in my life. Pittsburgh and New England are the only places I've lived that I still feel keenly homesick for.
